Our Blackberries
Variety Notes
#1: Thornless and adapted mostly for the processing market. Has less vegetation than other blackberry varieties and therefore can be planted 3 feet apart within the rows. Harvest begins approximately at the beginning of July and lasts for a period of 4 weeks.
#2: Thornless and ripens late in the season. Coupled with its excellent fruit storage and handling, Chester has become a popular cultivar for commercial growers. Semi-erect blackberry, it is also suited for the fresh market.
#3: Thornless, popular mid-season semi-erect blackberry suited for the local fresh market.
#4: Thorny, fresh market blackberry.
#5: Thornless, suited for the fresh market. Flavour is much better than that of Chester. Mid to late summer ripening.
#6: Thornless and Cold hardy.
#7: A hybrid between red raspberry and blackberry. Generally thought of as a type of blackberry, given its fruit characteristics. Fruit is covered with a dusty bloom. Trailing growth habit.
#8: A hybrid between red raspberry and blackberry. Flavour is intense and tart. Trailing growth habit.
#9: A hybrid between raspberry and blackberry.
Our Garlic
Variety Notes
#1: A Purple Stripe type. Large bulbs and great flavour to match its overall appearance. Purple outer wrappers protect the violet-tinged cloves that burst with bold flavour and mellow out with a pleasant aftertaste.
#2: Recently growing more popular again, German White has large white bulbs, is hardy and somewhat disease resistant. It used to be the most commonly seen variety at garlic festivals and farm stands, but had lost interest unZl the past few seasons. Customers speak highly of its hot flavour profile.
#3: Best when fresh, this type of garlic does extremely well in cold climates.
#4: A very hardy variety that stores well, Music would be my choice if we had to recommend a single variety to grow. Plants are large, producing large, mostly white bulbs with many easy-to-peel cloves per bulb at maturity. A hardneck variety with more subtle flavours.
#5: A best seller. This is a reliable variety with outer wrappers of a brownish purple color. Its large bulbs, some of which may be double (two cloves within a single wrapper skin).
